Checks printing in reverse order
Our checks have preprinted numbers on them. We've been printing checks fine for two years. All of a sudden recently they have been printing in reverse order. That is if you enter check 20880 as the starting check and have three checks to print it prints 20882 first then 20881 then 20880. To preprinted check umber 20880 has 20882 printed on it. We have done nothing different (that I know of). Any thoughts?
Re: Checks printing in reverse order
Have you changed printers? In our office, the deskjet printers print in reverse order while our laserjet printers do not. Also, check your "advanced printer properties". Printing in reverse order is usually a check box that lets you choose first page first or last page first. Someone else in the office may have changed it. PowerChurch does not have it's own printer setup that I am aware of.

Re: Checks printing in reverse order
Jack is correct. This is normally a printer driver issue, and can be fixed by checking your printer settings.

Re: Checks printing in reverse order
Thanks. I switched the setting to print in reverse order (which seems backwards to me as reverse order I would think would be the issue). When I go back in the office I'll see if this solves the issue. Thanks as always for your quick reply and advice.

What I would do is first run a set of checks on blank paper ... the program will ask you need to reprint. If the checks printed in the correct order on the blank paper, then run the reprint on the check stock.dpetherbridge wrote:Thanks. Re: Checks printing in reverse order
I changed settings to reverse and ran on blank paper - it didn't change. I then took reverse off and tried again on blank paper, still didn't work right. There must be a setting on the printer I'm missing. I think this began after the printer was relocated, but still it doesn't seem to make sense that this would occur.
Re: Checks printing in reverse order
What is the brand and model number of the printer?

Couple more questions?
1. Is the printer a network printer with the printer queue on a server?
If so, were there any updates to the server?
2. Is the printer attached to a computer and shared through the computer to other computers?
If so, when the printer was relocated was the computer it was attached to moved with the printer or was
the printer installed on a different computer?
Details about what exactly was changed or moved would be helpful.

Re: Checks printing in reverse order
The printer is an Epson 630 workforce printer. I do believe it is a networked printer, but am not certain. It isn't on a server but attached to our main computer which houses power church. I normally remote in from home. Church staff typically print the checks out. This is a new computer with new software. I'm not sure when the issue actually began (I noticed the issue when I was trying to reconcile the bank account and noticed the check numbers were off). This could very well be tied to that new computer/software.
Thanks for any suggestions anyone has.

Re: Checks printing in reverse order
Snce the printer was moved to a new computer with a new operating system and most likely "shared" from this new computer, I see two options:
The quick easy way:
1. Tell the church staff to insert the blank checks into the printer in the reverse order from what they were doing in the past. If they were placing the lowest number check on top, have them place the highest number on the top. This does not solve the printing issue but at least will let the checks numbers match with what PC says they are.
The more involved way:
2. Since changing the order of print in the printing properties did not make a difference, this tells me the operating system is not communicating properly with the printer on the new main computer. Download the latest print drivers from http://espon.com/support then install the latest drivers on all computers concerned. Then run your test on blank paper again.
