reconciling a bank statement

Post by glowe275 »

In January I posted some contributions in error. with reversing and correcting these contribution, I finally did a GE to balance the contribution and than reversed it. When reconciling the statement instead of postponing, I pressed done and now the same amount of $718.50 is showing as a difference when trying to reconcile my April bank statement. How can I correct the entry now and balance my statement? Everything else balances to the banking statement.

If the $718.50 is the amount of the contribution, and the contribution is in the reconciliation window, here's what I would do:

Enter a date, like April 1 (instead of April 30, for example), put in $718.50 as the bank statement amount, go to the next screen and clear the $718.50 in the reconciliation window so that the difference is zero, and click DONE.

Otherwise, you will have to do one of the following:
1) restore a backup from before you did the original reconciliation
2) "un-reconcile" the last reconciliations and start over

Thank you Mr. Meyers. That seems to have worked and now everything is showing as balanced. I do appreciate your help.

Thank you again
