Is there a way to view account activity for a period of time in a sub-account? Like, UTILITIES, for instance. Can I pull up a report that shows all detail from that account for the year, or quarter?

Have you looked at the Selected Transactions report? This should give you what you're looking for.

I have found the "Changes in Equity" report to be more of what I was looking for. It shows income and expenses for an individual account.

Eventually I will find my way around this software

Um ... that report only reports on the Equity accounts, IE: unrestricted or restricted net assets. How exactly are you using it ?

I am using it for restricted accounts, to show what activity has occurred in the month.

I am using it for restricted accounts, to show what activity has occurred in the month.

Then you're looking at the net assets accounts, not the actual restricted income account. it should give you the same information.

You might want to also look at the detail changes in equity. It will show you the transactions that are closed into a particular equity account. Seeing the detail of what changed in donor restriction is what we had in mind for creating this report.
