Payroll

Post by angel1 »

Good morning,

We are using Powerchurch 11.55. I just noticed that our treasurer has not been paying the payroll checks with the correct pay period. I think the problem is when she has to write a check for an event, she does not go back and change to the appropriate payroll period and so the wrong payroll period is then used.

Is there a way to correct this or does it matter. I have not posted the payroll yet for this pay cycle.

I do not see any way to modify that information after the check has been cut. The pay period information is for internal use only so it really has no effect on reporting. The date the check is cut is what really matters for tax purposes. This can be adjusted on the payroll to get it back to where it should be.

As Tom said, there isn't a need to correct this unless she created a check and it was set for 2014, and it was for an event in 2015. This would throw off the tax withholding, and the W-2 for 2014.

If you really need to correct this in Payroll, you'd have to void the check, then reenter using the manual check option of payroll. You'd correct the dates, then at the final review stage of the process, just before printing, you'd assign the original check number to the payroll check.

In any case, I'd have a LONG talk with your treasurer about the correct use of the program.
