Custom Report

Post by cbrown »

I just started an IT group at our small church and am trying to make our Treasurer's job easier. I'd like to create a report to show the following account columns:

Previous year ending balance
Income
Expense
Current year ending balance

Any ideas? I'm not an accountant and I'm learning how to use Power Church to expand our usage of it. I come from private industry where we used SAP and PowerChurch looks pretty easy compared to SAP. Thanks.

Which version of Powerchurch ?? In any case you may be trying to reinvent the wheel. Have you looked at the built-in Accounting Fund Balance report ?? That has exactly the data you want.

It will give you the starting balance of the month you set, say Jan 2014, and the ending balance of the ending month, say Dec 2014. Along with summary total of all income and expenses.

We probably need to know what you mean by balance. There are many different "balances" that are kept as part of the accounting system.

If you give us a more specifics as to what you are trying to do, we might be able to recommend which reports to use that are already built in.
