Bank reconciliation

Post by bjwhitson »

I posted the Feb 27-2015 payroll checks to the Unposted Transaction file before I posted all of the February transactions in anticipation of preparing Month-end reports. When I go to reconcile the bank statement, the Feb 27 payroll records are not on the list of transactions. They show up on the Income and Expense Statement and on the list of Posted transactions, so they are obviously in the system. Where could they be hiding?

OK .. I had to re-read this.

What is the closing date on the bank statement ?? If you click on the Include All Transactions radio button do they appear ??

The reconciliation will only show those transactions dated on or before the bank statement date you entered.

Neil, Neil, Neil,
You are so smart - what would we do without you on this forum? :D
The payroll records were dated 2-28-15 but the bank statement was dated 2-27-2105, which was the date I entered for the Bank Reconciliation. So - of course, when I entered 2-28-15 , they showed up just fine - Duh! :wall:

Thanks for pointing this out - I was really stymied!

Thanks for the praise, but that's an issue that often pops up for users who forget that the date of the transaction often affects whether or not it will appear in reports or, as you have seen, in the Reconciliation. :)
