Recreate new chart of account

Post by yaregal »

Hi:

We are revising our current chart of account and funds structure in power church.

Is there a document or a training video that shows us how to implement this new chart of account and transfer all the contribution history, fund balances and all the old data to the new structure?

Thanks

The only way to set up a new chart of accounts and transfer the historical data from the old account number to the new account number is to use the Move account feature in Maintain Chart of Accounts. This could be time consuming to do, depending on how many account number changes you need to make and how the current chart of accounts is set up.

I also noticed that you mentioned Contribution History.

Contributions are a complete separate database from the Funds Accounting system. The only connection it has with Funds Accounting is a read-only access to the Chart of Accounts in order to setup the proper income account when a Contribution Fund is created or modified.

If you use the move accounts as Matt suggested, you won't have to adjust the income accounts and the bank account on the Contribution Funds. However, if you create new income accounts or a bank account, you may have to verify each Contribution Fund to insure that the accounts listed are still valid.
