I need to make some notes to my balance sheet to record an investment, asset capitalization and writing off an asset (due to a loss).

You can go into View Transactions and add a note on in the transaction detail area. Or Modify Unposted Transactions and add the note there.

Is that what you were looking for ??

Notes to Financial Statements

Hi NeilZ,

I would like to notes to be on the actual balance sheet? Similar to the notes that accountants make to corporat financial statements to explain certain investments, lossess etc.

In that case, you could save the report to a Word file, and make your annotations on that report, save and print .

Actually the notes to the financial statements are not on the balance sheet. Notes to the financial statements cover all statements. Usually the balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows have a note on the bottom of the statement that reads as follows: "The notes to the financial statements are an integral part of this statement." I would follows Neil's suggestion and do the notes in Word.
