Account for shopping membership fees?

Post by UUUSOffice »

Hello, folks! Just doing a little fine-tuning of our Chart of Accounts. Does anyone have a separate account for Amazon, Costco, etc. annual membership fees? We use these accounts for hospitality, facilities, office supplies, etc. so it's hard to know where to charge the annual fee. Just wondering what others do...

We have a section of the COA called 'General Operations'. This covers anything that does not fit under a single ministry or area. We use the 'Miscellaneous' account we have setup there. We budget $200 for this and it rarely goes over that.

This is used for our Sam's Club fee, as the actual purchases are charged against the ministry requesting the purchase, while the fee is for the entire church. We don't see a reason to charge against a ministry budget for this.
