Payroll Correction
Our interim minister had health insurance through a group policy. The church has paid the premium monthy through accounts payable. Very long story short, he got an individual policy so I added a taxable health insurance income amount to his weekly payroll check. Now his situation has changed again and he will be staying on the group policy, cancelling the individual policy, and repaying the church for the premium amount paid to him through payroll. The payroll check that included the insurance payment has been cashed but taxes have not been paid yet. What is the best way to correct this? Thanks so much!

Re: Payroll Correction
Thanks for pointing me to that post. Since he will not be paying the entire check back, only the health insurance portion do I void the entire check and create a manual payroll check for his salary minus the health insurance or can I do a negative manual payroll check for the same check date as the original and make it for -899.05 to get the health insurance deducted from his income?
Re: Payroll Correction
I'd do a backup, then try the negative payroll in PAYROLL. You have to reverse the amount of the withheld taxes from the W-2 totals, so see what the system calculates for taxes on the 899.05 and see if it deducts that too. Then I would post as a direct deposit in Payroll if the system does the calculations right.BCC wrote:Thanks for pointing me to that post.
