New to Powerchurch and an accounting novice

Post by tim.keyser »

We had money come in to help an individual out and was posted to a contribution fund marked "helping fun" and that was tied to an income fund marked "Deacon helping fund". So the income fund reflects the $250 that came in. We need to now cut a check for the individual in need. Do I make a journal entry that would debit the income account and credit the expense account.

You should be writing a check from the Accounts Payable module. In accounts payable, you then credit the checking account, and then debit an expense account for missions or something like that.

That said, not knowing how your accounts are setup there's not much more that can be said. Now, by 'income fund' are you talking about an account? Is this a separate Fund Account?? Is there a separate checking account for the deacons?
