Need you advice on this. Our Youth Pastor is going out of town next week and wanted me to print his paycheck early. He wants his check for the period of the 23rd -29th to have a check date of the 27th so he can cash the check on the road. So, effectively, he would receive two paychecks this week and not receive one next week. Things to consider - church doesn't currently operate on a budget and he is on a salary. Do you see anything wrong here, it just doesn't seem right to do to me.

He's salary, he's going to get paid so much a month whether he works 20 hours or 40. In fact, I'm doing that for the minister where I work next week. He's going on vacation, and so I'm going to issue him the check dated for Thursday so he has his paycheck before he leaves. The church DOES work on budget, but the budget is setup for the year. The pastor gets a certain amount for the year which does equate to so much a month. Writing an early paycheck for the month will not exceed the budget for the month, and definitely will not exceed the budget for the year.

Its not a problem ... I'd make sure he can get the check earlier so he can cash it at his local bank, as he may not be able to cash it as easily on the road, unless you use a national bank such as Bank of America, Wells Fargo, etc.
