Changing Account numbers

Post by eagle654b »

Will I create any problems in the program if I change the account numbers on the Temporary Restricted accounts? I know I have to also change the income and release account numbers as well.
I created the account numbers years ago when I first started using Powerchurch and now realize that I should have assigned the numbers differently. For example, I assigned the numbers 01-3201-101, 01-3202-002, etc. I would like to change them to 01-3201-001, 01-3201-002, 01-3201-003, etc.
Thank you,

Well ... it shouldn't affect them, nor how the system releases the funds. However, its always a good idea to test this first.

Make a backup of the current accounting system, change the numbers for one restricted fund. Then create an invoice and release funds from that changed restricted fund. If the right account number shows up for the release account, then I'd say it works.

Restore your accounting files, then make all the changes.

You don't have to do the test first, but I find it helps to have your ideas confirmed before you commit to making any changes.
