Entering a local tax.

We use a payroll service for our payroll. They write the checks and pay all the taxes.
I enter the paycheck information into powerchurch manually. Everything is fine until I come to our local "Tri-met Tax". It is a local tax that is the employers responsibility.
When I enter the manual check for payroll taxes, the amount is included. My question is, all the other tax information is entered in PC when I enter payroll. Where do I enter our tri-met tax so we can keep track of it? Or, it's possible I just don't understand payroll taxes at all.

I don't understand the question. When you say you enter the manual check, how do you handle the other employer taxes like Social Security and Medicare? Do they have their own expense account? If so, then that's how you should be handling this local tax paid by the employer.
If not, are you budgeting for this tax under any existing Payroll Taxes expense account in Powerchurch? This is usually defaulted as 5305-000
Payroll Taxes and is normally used for SS & Medicare.

I should not have said I enter a manual check. I am just transferring the information from the payroll company into the payroll section. "Processing Payroll".
I have PC set up to automatically figure the taxes and those always come out the same as what the payroll service says. I just didn't know how to process the tri-met tax since it doesn't come out of anyone's paycheck.

This is an employer expense, it should be setup the same as the employer portions of SS & Medicare. If the tax is a percentage like SS & Medicare, just use those as examples for the new tax.
