Without more information I'm not sure anyone can assist.

1. Are all items on the Bank Statement, listed in the Reconcile screen?
2. Where are you showing the incorrect amount?
3. Under items you have cleared, do you see the same numbers of items cleared (next to Checks & Subtractions/Deposits & Additions) on the bottom right of the Reconcile screen, as what you have listed on the bank statement.
4. Have you possibly checked something off that SHOULD NOT have been checked off?? (not on the bank statement)

I wonder if it has something to do with the checks I had to void. They show up under both additions and subtractions. A check that has been voided is still in the subtractions, do I check that off?

Yes, all items on the Statement are listed on reconcile screen.

Acct balance shows more than it should.

Under items cleared, are those amounts a total for all statements? Is there a way to go back and look at statements that have been finished?

The voids need to be cleared from the deposits and the checks, they will then cancel each other out.

The items cleared displays are only for the current statement you're working on. If you need to see older statement, you can do that using Funds Accounting reports, using the Bank/Credit Card Reconciliation Report. Run that, and you'll get a list of previous reconciliations.

I think I see the problem now, but I don't know how to fix it. I have an amount in the To Balance column that matches a deposit that I have checked off in the deposits.

OK .. did that deposit appear on the bank statement? If not, uncheck it. If it did, and the date is the same, then there may be a duplicate entry somewhere?
Did the previous month's Statement Balance OK ??

Yes, the deposit was on my bank statement. I have gone back and checked every deposit in the program and I did not find a duplicate. would it show somewhere else?

No, it shouldn't, unless a deposit was voided and the corresponding void in the deposits and checks were not cleared.

I would UNCHECK the 'only show items before statement date' if you haven't done it before and look there.

Nothing there either. There's a lot I don't understand about this program but this really has me stumped! I've looked every place I know to look.

OK ... what you can do is accept the reconciliation at this time, and print out the results. Print the results, and attach a memo explaining that no matter what you tried, you could not find any transaction to balance the accounts.

Then next month when the statement comes in, see if you have the same issue, and for the same amount. If that is the case, and the amount shows that Powerchurch lists more than the bank, you'll need to create a Funds Accounting transaction to adjust for the overage. If the bank shows more than Powerchurch, again, you'll have to make an adjusting transaction.

I would not do it this time to be on the safe side in case something was checked off that shouldn't have been, or not checked off that should have been.

But the fact that you were able to balance the account using 'pencil and paper' manually tells me that there is something in Powerchurch you're missing.
