Vendor TYPE report?

We are considering using the Vendor Type field for a special purpose and want to have a report pulling out specific types. However, I cannot find a report that will sort by Vendor Type. If this exists, where/how do I get it? Thanks for help!

As far as I can tell, there are no reports that sort by Vendor Type. You can select some reports to only pull vendors using the vendor type, but otherwise you'd have to create a custom report.

Evidently that is not something anyone has asked for in the past, as they usually add features that most of their users can get some value from it.

Thanks for this reply. I tried one vendor with a temporary type and was happily able to get a report from Vendor Activity selecting type. Next question: is there somewhere to list within PC what such a 2 character or digit type means? In Quickbooks, one can create an item list with further descriptions of what the item means. Otherwise I suppose a sticky note on the computer (not the most elegant solution) listing types and meaning would work. At least now we have a start and I thank you!

I'm assuming you're using a version earlier than v12? The earlier versions did not have that capability, you could export the list to Excel, then add that to a local file, but that was it.

Version 12 has a 20 or 30 character vendor type field, so you can expand (and replace) what the code is so it will make sense to all.

Thanks! We were planning to upgrade to 12 very soon. Another good reason to do so.
