Powerchurch Plus V 11.1. A handwritten payroll check was created and cashed in March. The check was then entered into Powerchurch. When reconciling March from bank statements, we now realize the handwritten amount was transposed and incorrect by $9.00 more than it was supposed to be. The bank cashed it and the payroll entry has been posted. I don't know how to correct this in Powerchurch. Thank you for the experienced help!

OK .. I'm assuming that you didn't use Powerchurch payroll to create the manual check, as you said the check was created, then entered into Powerchurch.

The fix is to reverse the original Manual Check from Accounts Payable, then create a new Manual Check with the amount as shown by the bank.

If this is not the way it was done, please give as much information about how it was entered in Powerchurch as possible.

Thanks Neil. Yes, I did process the check through payroll. I didn't treat it as a manual check since this was a weekly payroll check. I had a family emergency and was not able to attend church on that particular Sunday. I asked the clerk, also an authorized check signer, to pull a prior paystub and match exactly the amount and hand write it so the employee could have his paycheck.

Event order: Clerk hand wrote check > employee cashed it > few days later I ran powerchurch payroll and I back dated it to match date of the handwritten check > I printed it on a plain piece of paper. Bank statement for end of March showed the amount given to employee was $9 more than powerchurch payroll would have given.

OK ... so was the amount due to not taking out taxes, or other such deduction? I'm assuming that's the case. In which case you will need to deduct an extra $9.00. You will have to inform the employee of course, but you'll need to adjust any taxes deducted in a future paycheck by adding an additional amount to withhold from the that paycheck only.
