Hello
At the beginning of the year we added a camera operator who makes 50.00 a week. I forgot to change the tax from manual to Employee and Employer for SS and Medicare. Just caught it on our 2nd QTR 941. The 941 deposit report says 1424.96 and the 941 employer quarterly federal tax return form says 1524.28. Of course I paid 1524.28 but I need to adjust our SS and Medicare to the correct amount and the employee portion without affecting the employee pay. I know a JE will correct the expense and liability accounts but I cant picture how to correct the employees YTD. I am such a visual person. Any suggestions.

You can't do a Journal Entry to fix this. You need to update the Payroll module with this information. It so happens that someone else had the same issue, and my answer to them, and to you is here:FirstMOBC wrote:Hello

You would basically do the same thing but add to the normal employer and employee calculations the additional funds you need to include. However, you WILL be affecting the employee's pay, as their portion of the SS & Medicare is a tax deduction.

Thank You I just read the other post. I was hoping I did not have to effect the employee pay cause we want to bare the cost. But look as if I have a choice.

Not much, if the church were to bear the cost, then that amount would also have to be taxable. You'll just have to let the employee know that one or two weeks they'll see a bit less than normal.FirstMOBC wrote:Don't have a choice
