We accidentally underpaid our Pastor in 2018. They would like it to show up in 2018 records even though we are going to pay them in 2019 for that error. How can we do this?

This is not easily done. I'm assuming you already sent in any state and local income tax payment for the 4th Qtr of 2018. You would have to amend those returns, and pay any extra withholding.

It may be easier just to add the amount to the next paycheck, and make a note in the transaction when it shows up in Funds Accounting why the pastor was paid extra. This way you have the audit trail. Make sure your church board knows what happened, and how you corrected it.
