Income and expense report

Post by ramblinrose »

I just noticed that on the Income and Expense report an expense overage is now shown as negative number and an under is shown as positive.

This is the opposite of how it was before and how it should be. The income is still correct.

Is this the result of the latest maintenance release? Will it be corrected?

The change in % comparisons was a new feature in Version 12.

So there's not way to get it to go back to showing the positive and negative correctly?

It is working by design. There isn't a way to change it back.

I guess I'm confused. I'm not talking about the changes by percentage column. I'm sure that is correct.

It's the year to date budget difference line. It's working the opposite of the way it's always worked and is correct.

Are you saying they made the change on purpose?

From the Version 12 update features list (released November 2017):
Budget comparison reports switches +/- figures for income vs. expense accounts
The change was made because of lots of user requests for it to change over the years. The thought is it makes the reports more readable.

Being over budget on an income account is a good thing (positive). Being over budget on an expense account is a bad thing (negative).
