Using the Check Reader with Accounts Receivable

I'd like to use the Check Readable with Payments to Accounts Receivable.

I can't find anything in the manual or online about doing this.

Is it possible?

If so, how do I do it?

Thanks,

Terry

Current, the check reader can only be used with the Contributions entry.

How would you use it with AR ??

A lot of my A/R transactions are with the same people month to month.

I'd like to automatically know who the check is from and what the check number is.

Saves look-up for me. Gives a better record if there is a question to be resolved - I can give the date deposited, the check number, etc.

Why is this significantly different from Contributions?

It differs in the numbers of checks that arrive each Sunday for entry. I don't know how many checks you see a month for AR, but we process, on average, 150 here a week.

Of course, nothing says that it can't be done, but that would involve some changes to the way the AR system is written. Currently there is no location for storage of check number, nor account number, so the database would have to be changed. Then the entry screen would also need to be changed to allow display of the check number, and so on and so forth. Then how many users will use such a feature if offered.
