I think I have a setting wrong somewhere...
When I click "post transactions" powerchurch says that there are "no transactions to post between the months of March 2020 and August 2020" and won't let me post... which is fine, except what I am trying to post is in September and October 2020. How can I fix this?

You can control the number of open months in older versions of PowerChurch Plus by going to File > Preferences > Accounting Setup. Click on the Fund Accounting tab. There you can change "Number of months that can be open at one time" up to the max of 18 months.

Version 12 of PowerChurch Plus removed this number of open months limitation.
