Just finished accounting setup

I just finished accounting setup. Unfortunately, even though I checked things twice, I have a wrong balance on the checking account.

Since I have finished the setup - is the only way to correct that balance is via journal entries?

Unless you restart accounting (File -> Preferences -> Accounting Setup) your only option is to use a journal entry. If you make an entry, you'll offset your Unrestricted Net Assets (usually 3110-000).
