Check can't print properly on amounts over $1,000,000

Post by Kevin Sawatzky »

We are in the midst of a building project and wrote our first construction payment that was over $1,000,000. While the amount could be entered into the AP module fine, when we printed the check, the body of the check did not fill in properly, it just showed up as a line of **********************. The numerical amount missed a comma after the 1 in 1 million and the cents showed as .3 instead of .29. So the numerical amount look like this: $1000,000.3. Can Powerchurch not write checks out for $1 million dollars or more? To compensate we wrote 2 checks to equal the amount but we will have many more of these size checks to write and would prefer to just write one each time.

What version of PowerChurch are you using? I just ran a test in Version 12.2 and it printed an AP check of over a million without issue.

If you Version 12.2 and are using a custom check layout, the problem may be with the formatting of the check amount field.

Just replying again as I have had a response to my reply. We use version 11.55.

I apologize that I missed your original reply.

Version 11.5/11.55 will not print a million dollar check. The check printing process was improved in Version 12 to support check amounts that large.

If I understand this correctly, yes we do. The option we choose from the drop down menu is Laser Middle cheque - Canadian

Well .. as Zorak said above (and I didn't realize) v11.55 does not handle that size check. V12.2 does.

OK thanks. Can you tell me if we upgraded to Version 12, is it a very simple upgrade? (i.e. does all our data transfer over?)

The upgrade is simple ... one click on the executible, the program installs, first use it will ask if you're upgrading, you say yes, it will look for the 11.55 data and import it. It will then index the DB, and close. You open the program, you're ready to go.

All you have to do is remove the old 11.55 icon from all user desktops so they won't use the old version in future. Upgrade is only $159.00 ...
