Re-set COA: Old Contributions Won’t Post?

I have reset my Chart of Accounts, but now find that I cannot post the old contributions to this new COA. Is there a way to update Fund Accounting if PCP does not have any “unposted’ contributions?

After restarting accounting, your only option to get those prior amounts in is to manually enter the deposit transactions into Fund Accounting.

For the sake of an easier bank reconciliation, you would enter each week's deposit into Fund Accounting, debiting the bank and crediting the various income accounts.

If you wish, though, you could enter monthly totals transactions to more quickly get caught up. This however, will show only a monthly total deposit amount in the bank reconciliation process, rather than each individual deposit.

This sounds workable; less time consuming than re-entering all the envelope number contributions. Thanks! :D

In my search for trying to figure out how to get the Contributions Module to transfer into Fund Accounting using my new Chart of Accounts (which BTW has the same Contribution Fund numbers as my old Chart of Accounts) I noticed under the Utilities Menu there is a “DataBase Manager” pop-up box that requires a specific command. If I call the 1-800 Tech Support phone number is there a specific command you can give me that will allow the Contributions Module to be transferred to the Fund Accounting Module?

If this is not the case, can you explain: what is the purpose of the “DataBase Manager” heading under Utilities :?

Are you posting the Contributions to the Funds Account ?? If all your Contribution Funds are setup to debit and credit the COA, they should be transferred when you Post Contributions from the Contributions menu. However, once contributions have been posted to the Funds Accounting module, they cannot be posted again. So if you were thinking of using this to post old contributions, it doesn't work that way.

What I would do is have your Financial Secretary (or whoever does the contributions area) go through each Contribtuion Fund using the Maintain List of Contribution Funds and RESELECT each debited and credited account that is listed there to verify the link.

With the 'restart' of the COA, the link between the Contribution fund, and the Accounting Funds it posts to may have been broken.

The Database Manager is for advanced users only and is not normally used in day to day operations. Normally its used for database repair under the guidance of the PC+ staff.
