I am a new user of V 9, XP operating system. I can pay vendors and salaried employees but can't get the hang of releasing hourly checks. All already set up prior to my coming and all worked for former secretary. Thanks for any advice. I have a manual, I have read the section on Payroll, just don't get what I'm doing wrong.

OK ... it may help us to help you if you describe what part you're having problems with.

All the checks for salaried employees and one employee who is set up for a 1099 form all print, the one hourly employee is set up for 6 hours per week at an hourly rate. I can't print a check on this one. Thanks

Sometimes figuring it out for yourself is the best way to learn. So, may I ask, what was the problem ??

I should have said I found another way. I still am not sure why I couldn't get a check to print and pay an hourly employee who works 6 hrs per week. I went in and changed the hourly rate to a yearly amount and it will print. Thanks for your reply.

In case this happens to anyone else, you may need to check to see if the hourly employees are grouped.

Go to Maintain List of Employees-Payroll Info.-Paycheck Group

My nursery workers are hourly. Their code is N.

Then you have to go to Payroll-Manual Ck-group (N):"Locate" the employee you need to write the check for and highlight their Item Name (job description) this brings up the screen that lets you type in the hours worked. Post the information, be sure you have the correct date and print your check.
