I accidently deleted a Personal Profile that had current 2006 contribution info. I know that this data went to "a shared envelope" but I'm not sure what that is. I have the data, and just want to take this person's YTD contributions back out of that "shared envelope" and return them to his giving number.
Is that the best way to handle this? How would it be done? Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

unfortunately, there is no easy way to restore the data, however, you can run a SELECTED CONTRIBUTORS report from the Contributions Standard Reports to see the amount in the 99999 envelope. I suggest that you install the new Maintenance Release for V9, as it will allow you to just pull the data for 99999.

However, if you've deleted other people in the past year, those amounts will be included in that total.

If that's the case, what I suggest is:

1. Do a complete backup of your PC+ data (all the files)
2. Restore the latest backup from storage
3. Pull the report to get the total in the 99999 envelope at that time
4. Restore the backup you just made, pull the 99999 report
5. Subtract the amount found in 3 from the amount in 4, which should be the amount for your person. That is, if you didn't delete anyone else at the same time.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I do not have an envelope #99999. I was referring to the "Shared Envelope" because that's the message that pops up when one deletes a Personal Profile.

I have deleted other people in the past year. I was thinking I could just do a reverse (negative) journal entry, swapping with that "Shared Envelope" and the actual Contributor number that I want to restore.

I am using v8.5 (and I've been a PC+ user since 1988 without any major problems!) but do plan to upgrade to v9 for 2007.

I'm open to other ideas

The envelope number 99999 actually is the shared envelope number.

Run a Posted Contributions report for envelopes from 99999 to 99999. This will show you all the contribution records for profiles that have been deleted.

Thanks Zorak. I tried that after the first reply (using Individual Contribution Statement) and get a message saying "Envelope #99999 not found". I then tried getting a report using "Selected Contributors" with that Envelope Number, and got a message saying "no contributions found". Now I'm really confused.

Right. There wouldn't be any reason to print a contribution statement for that envelope, so it is not included in that report. The selected contributors report, as NeilZ mentioned earlier, only now in v9 will include the 99999 envelope.

The report that I suggested you run is called "Posted Contributions." I verified that it will show you the information that you are looking for in v8.5

Thanks so much for the clarification. I did find it, and the only entries there are the ones I'm missing for the wrongly deleted personal profile.

Can I still do a negative contribution entry for envelope #99999 and enter the money back into that individual's contribution information?
