Possible to use Accounting Module without Contributions Module

Post by Fairview UC »

We are using PowerChurch for the first time and would like to use the Accounting Module without the Contributions Module for 2022, as we have another software that is currently handling our contributions. Is it possible to enter the contributions directly through Accounting as a deposit to the bank account?

Yes, it's absolutely possible. When you post Contributions to Fund Accounting, it creates a Fund Accounting Transaction that Debits the Asset account and Credits the Income Account associate to each Contribution Fund. You can do this without the Contributions Module by going to Accounting > Fund Accounting > Enter Transactions, and Debit the Asset (bank) account for the total of your contributions, and then Credit appropriate Income Accounts for the totals of each Contribution Fund

I do advise that you switch to use Powerchurch for all your church management as it consolidates all your church's areas in one package.

1. Membership - all the data needed in one place as far as addresses, membership, tracking visitors, etc.
2. Contributions - no need to have to update address and other date in two places as an update in membership takes care of the addressing in contributions.
3. Accounting - a simple click on a button transfers all Contribution data to Accounting without any issues of data being copied or entered incorrectly.

Starting with Contributions at the beginning of the year is the best way to go as the old system can take care of the previous year statement, and all future Contributions are in Powerchurch.

If you're worried about other people having access, Powerchurch incorporates a very robust permissions system where people who enter Contributions, don't have access to any Accounting information, yet can easily add new contributors to Membership, where these new contributors, are often new visitors, and they can then be followed up on through Membership reports.
