Paid Singers - Tax Form 1099

Post by TBM »

My church has paid singers they are considered to be non-employees. But they earn over $600 dollars in a year therefore; we are required to issue them a tax form 1099 misc. Has anyone found a way to maintain employees that requires a 1099 misc that are not vendors. I am considering placing them in payroll to create the data neeed and do tax forms manually. Any problems with that approach ?

I don't see any problems doing it that way. It is always much simpler to do it from Account Payable though so you can directly print 1099's, but it is up to you.
