Delete accounting fund

We need to delete a whole fund of GL accounts because the ministry that fund was created for is long gone and will not be restarted. The cash
was transferred and the balance sheet shows zero dollars. I have deleted all the accounts that were never used in that fund, but there are about 15 left that have activity. How can I get rid of the remaining 15 accounts and thus the fund?

Unfortunately, you won't be able to delete accounts that have had posted transaction history. In Versions 12 and 14, you can mark that accounting fund as inactive, so those accounts won't show up in account lookups. There is an "Active" checkbox on the Maintain List of Accounting Funds screen.

Great, thanks! I didn't know a whole fund could be made inactive. That will do what I wanted, which is to avoid having to always enter beginning and ending fund numbers for reports since we only have one fund we're using. Big help. Thanks again.

We have a fund for Youth Pastor, though it's been 20 years since we had one. When I unchecked the Active button, here is the response: "This fund cannot be made inactive. The default bank account is in this fund."

This is a system I inherited a few months back, so I wasn't in on the setup. But we have lots of funds that are inactive, and scrolling through them is time-consuming.

You can change this setting in PowerChurch by going to File > Preferences > Accounting Setup. Click the magnifying glass icon next to "Default bank account number" and choose the default bank account in one of your active funds.

If it hasn't been used in 20 years, that has probably come with a lot of other annoyances with PowerChurch always filling in that account by default.
