I have set up our accounts for 19 funds. We have not started using the program, ver 10, yet. When I go to File-Prefernces-Accounting Setup- Accts Payable, then hit Ok, I get the message "Default equity acct is not in all funds".

When I print the Chart of Accounts Fund Comparison Report I find that none of my 19 funds fails to include an equity account. Some funds close to more than one equity account, which results in sub funds. For instance, we have a fund, Youth Pilgramage, which keeps track of the total for four different youth groups within the fund. We have four similar funds. The accounting setup clearly allows this, so I can't imagine this is a problem. However, I'm wondering if this is "confusing" the program and I'm getting a "false" message.

What am I missing here, or is this message irrelevent?

The message is indicating that the "Default" equity account is not used in all funds. On the Fund Accounting tab of that same screen, there is a setting for the default equity account. Usually, this is 3110-000 Unrestricted. In most cases, you will want to have this account set up in each fund. Even where the fund only contains restricted money, when that money is released from restriction, it releases into 3110-000 Unrestricted equity.
