Why does the year start fund balance get adjusted on the report Accounting Fund Balances. In other words, my check book register report and my balance sheet report have different beginning balances than the year start balance on the Accounting Fund Balances report (and in parentheses the year start balance is marked adjusted).

Lynda,

The reason is that the beginning accounting fund balances represent the "equity" in all your funds (Assets minus Liabilities), while the beginning balance in the check book register report just represents the balance in all your fund's cash accounts. These two numbers will never be the same unless the only asset you had for all your funds at year end was cash and there were no liabilities.
