Payroll Tax Table changes

Post by newlifeag »

Where do I change the $________ plus 15%, etc., number on the federal tax tables? I put in the over/but not over amounts, but the "amount of income tax to withhold is:" figures aren't matching the irs numbers on their charts. the single federal tax table is correct, but my married one is off.

Can you tell me which table you used? I am not sure if my federal tax is calculating correctly.

Also, my part time employee is convinced I am calculating tax wrong. The tables indicate that no tax should be taken out for her weekly salary. Is there anything to do besides make a manual entry?

Thanks!

You want to use Table 7 in PUB 15 / Circular E, for 2008 it is on page 39. You only need to enter the annual table, PowerChurch will prorate it to the other pay periods.

Also make sure you are entering the exemption amounts correctly. Again use the annual amount from page 36 and multiple the annual withholding allowance by the number of exemptions they are claiming.
