MAINTAINING AUTO REPEATING ENTRIES

I am new to the world of accounting.....
I have entered Dec. Payroll as an auto repeating entry and saved it. How do I then enter Jan. without wiping on Dec. and losing all my lines with account numbers. I could use some step by step procedures to figure this out.

I was able to get our accountant on the phone so the answer is:
If you release it as a manual check you have go into manual checks and give it a number.
