Looking for a church accountant (Northern Virginia) - Any tips ? Should they be familiar with Power church, etc.?

They should know how to do double-entry bookkeeping. The program itself is fairly easy to use, its the double entry part that causes a lot of confusion. They should also understand 'Fund Accounting'. Churches do not do accrual bookkeeping, as its a 'cash in hand' type of business. I've found that many churches using another, rather expensive, national brand accounting system, never change it from the default of accrual to CASH, and the reports are not exactly correct. It also 'hides' the actual 'processes' going on, while PCPlus is very open showing exactly where the funds are coming out of, what bank account, etc.
