VOIDING a Check
How does VOIDING a check manually differ from VOIDING a check in accounts payable? Is one preferred above the other, or do they both accomplish the same thing? The only difference that I can see is how they display in when I reconcile the bank statement.

I assume that by manually voiding a check, you mean making an entry in Fund Accounting.
Voiding the check in Accounts Payable is preferrable. One thing it does is update the vendor record. Another thing is that (in later versions) lets you see the check before you void it so you don't make a mistake.
Why not just use the void feature? Is it because you find it quicker in Fund Accounting?

If you entered a VOID transaction in Fund Accounting, then, yes you can reverse it. Accounts Payable will not know about either transaction. Then, you can VOID it in Accounts Payable.
You will have four items in your reconciliation windows (hopefully two in the upper window and two in the lower window). The original check, the two transactions from Fund Accounting, and the VOID from Accounts Payable.
