Changing unrestricted money into restricted money

Post by cfitguy »

Monthly, we would like to take unrestricted donation funds and convert them into restricted funds. How should this be done? An example would be taking $100 of unrestricted Tithes & Offerings and moving it into Benevolence Restricted. Accounts are as follows:

4030 - Unrestricted Tithes & Offerings (income)
3210-102 Benevolence (Equity)
4210-102 Benevolence Restricted (income) closes to 3210-102
4810-102 Benevolence Release (income) closes to 3210-102
4999 Released from restriction (income)

Thank you.

You can move it by simply doing this in Fund Accounting - Enter Transactions:
DB 4030-000 unrestricted income
CR 4210-102 Benevolence

The equity accounts (net unrestricted and restricted) will update accordingly, and automatically.
