Direct Transactions

On the Accounting Fund Balances Report, there is a column called "Direct Transactions." What qualifies as a direct transaction? One of our Finance Committee members asked me that question, and I didn't know the answer. We frequently use the "Transfer" option, but the Direct Transaction column is always zeroed out. I couldn't find anything in the user's guide.
Thanks!

A direct transaction would be when you include the Fund Balance account in Fund Accounting / Enter Transactions.
An example is setting up a starting balance in a checking account:
DB 01-1110-000 $1000
CR 01-3110-000 $1000
This would show up in the "Direct Transactions"
The other kind shows up as [system generated] when you run an Account Activity report in your fund balance accounts.
This is the cumulative income-over-expense for the current year (year-to-date amount). When you close December (version 9 and 10), the [system generated] amount adds to the new year beginning fund balance amount.
Direct transactions add to the beginning balance in the Accounting Funds Transactions report.
Income-over-expense ([system generated]) add to the ending balance in the Accounting Funds Transactions report.
