Is it possible to:
1. back up all the current PowerChurch data and burn it to a CD
2. wipe everything with the 'Restart Accounting' button
3. use the new Chart of Accounts for a while
3. back up the new Chart of Accounts and transactions
4. restore the data set from the CD to view it
We want to restart everything, and not lose the current Chart of Accounts and transactions.

Yes, but in your backups, just backup the ACCOUNTING portion of Powerchurch, nothing else. This database area is what you are concerned with and you want to make sure that you only overwrite that area. If you do a FULL backup, and then restore, you will overwrite membership, contributions, activities, etc.mcalpinekeith wrote:Is it possible to:

We want to restart everything, and not lose the current Chart of Accounts and transactions.
In addition, before you do anything, you want to make sure that anything that has not been posted, is posted before you make the backup. You also want to print out any reports you need for opening balances, unreconciled transactions that may need to be entered, and so on.
Then after you restart, continue to make normal backups of Accounting, then just before you want to do any restoration of the OLD Accounting database, again make sure that anything that needs to be posted, is posted to the NEW Accounting database before you do a backup of that database.
