Can't Change Accounting Fund Number

Using Version 9, program date 10/16/2008, in Maintain List of Accounting Funds, I tried to change Fund 03 to 13. Next screen: Please verify you want change 03 to 13. Clicked Yes. Next screen: Changing Account Number. When you click Save it repeats Please verify, etc. The only way to get out of the loop is to click Cancel. BTW, this problem was reported in the post "Problem editing accounting fund" dated 1/29/09 but no one replied.

More details: now all the accounts previously in fund 03 exist as 13-xxxx-. You can record transactions to them and post them. In Balance Sheet by Fund and Income & Expense by Fund reports they show up under Fund 13-Unknown. But in Maintain Chart of Accounts and Maintain List of Accounting Funds, Fund 13 doesn't exist. Fund 03 does but with no accounts.

Apparently MR 6/18/2010 fixes this bug but I wanted to correct what I've already done before I install it. Here is the workaround I tried on another computer: I created a new fund 13 with the same name as the old fund 03 and deselected Copy existing account setup... Then I deleted Fund 03. Now Fund 13 shows up in the Chart of Accounts report with all the accounts Fund 03 had and Fund 03 is gone. Problem apparently fixed.

So finally here's my question: Have I really solved this problem or will some unforeseen issue come up to bite me? Is there a better way to do this? Thanks for any suggestions or reassurance.

Yes, that should have fixed it.

Installing the MR will keep that from happening in the future.
