Releasing unused restricted monies

Post by calvaryfellowship »

We have restricted monies from years past that was not used up...how can I release these back to the general fund?

My attempt at this was to go into "enter transaction" and just hit release restricted funds, choose the resricted fund to release from and enter the amount of the balance in that acct. showing on my bal. sheet.

I don't think it worked though because I then ran another bal. sheet (making sure to choose "include unposted transactions) and it's not changing the the amount showing under temporarily restricted bal. for that acct.

Appreciate any help. :)

If you released money, even in an unposted transaction, it should have moved the money out of the restricted equity account and put it into unrestricted.

Run an Account Close To report from under Reports - Fund Accounting and make sure that your close to equity accounts are assigned properly.

Restricted Income - Closes to restricted equity
Release Account - Closes to restricted equity
Expense Accounts - Always close to unrestricted equity
Released From Restriction (4999) - Closes to unrestricted equity
