Void check not entered

Post by Murry_Page »

I would like to show a check voided even though it was not written. I put a new check in the printer and forgot it was there and printed a document on it. so, how do I show the check as voided in the system so the auditor can see what happened to the check both visually and recorded?

Very simple ... here's the information that I copied directly from the Powerchurch built-in help, also in the PCPlus 14.x manual on page 276:

If a pre-printed check is damaged or improperly printed, you might want to void the unissued check number, to ensure there are no misunderstandings about where the check is. To void an unissued check number, simply create a manual check showing the check as issued to the Void vendor in the amount of zero.

To void an unissued check number:

1.From the Accounting menu, choose Accounts Payable, then Maintain Manual Checks.

2.Click Add and make the following entries:
  • The Date defaults to today's date. Enter a different date, if necessary.

·In the Check Number field, enter the check number followed by VOID (for example, 3003-VOID).

·In the Amount field, enter 0.00.

·In the To The Order Of field, enter VOID.

·The first item in the Account field should be the default bank account number. You can change the account number if needed.

3.Click Save.

After you post the item from Accounts Payable and then Fund Accounting, the void appears on your Check Register report and Reconcile Bank Accounts screen as a $0 check.
