Error Message in accounting module

Post by foxygramps »

One of our users was setting up to write some checks. Had a power glitch, and afterward received this error msg.
She was using 8.0
Program: cform load
Line: 30
Error: 41
Memo file: \pcplus8\apinfo.fpt is missing or invalid.
Was advised to reindex the accounting file, and did so, which did not solve the problem. Do you have any suggestions?

If you have a backup either of Accounting or of all the data, you can simply restore all of the APINFO files from it (by doing a selected files restore) and that should take care of the problem.

Please note that you would not have to restore all of the files from the backup, just APINFO.FPT, APINFO.DBF and APINFO.CDX.

If you restore only these files, you should not lose any information, because the APINFO files only contain program information, not actual data.

If that doesn't take care of the problem or if they don't have a recent backup, they will need to call our Technical Support Department at (800) 486-1800. Our support hours are 9 AM to 6 PM, Eastern, Monday through Friday.

No recent backups. If I install a second copy of ver 8 under a different name, can I then copy those files you named into the original copy?

In theory, yes. In practice, maybe not. APINFO stores your last transaction number, so if that gets out of sync (unlikely, but possible), weird things can happen. Your best bet would be to give us a call here. We can walk you through finding the appropriate information, create the files here, and then send them to you.

However, if you want to try to copy the files from another copy of PowerChurch, then make sure you make a backup of your current files first. That way, if something weird happens, you can just restore back to this point.
