Hello Everyone,

Please give me some quick help!!!!!

I have two expense accounts that should be consecutive,5218 & 5219. When I print out a Chart of Accounts by fund Report, everything looks very well. However, when I print out a Chart of Accounts by fund Report I find the following message printed between the two accounts!!

account no. is not in a definded range

I then went to the MAINTAIN CHART OF ACCOUNTS function &"paged" account by account, but I can't find this strange account between 5218 & 5219.

I have done a "FIND" & a "LOCATE". I get the same result.

Now I can not re-index my accounting data!!!

What should I do? Will I loose all of my data? I am using v.p with mr jan 05.

Go to File, Preferences, Accounting Setup, and then click on the Fund Accounting tab. Take a look at the account number ranges here and compare to how you have your chart of accounts set up. Sounds like your account structure is not set up right.

You have an account without a description in your data set. Contact support for assistance. You may need to send your data in.

Thanks All,

Tracy, I need to get my arms around this problem.

Here is the status of our data. We have entered three years of accounting data by year. (We are new to PC+ v.9.). We entered 2004,s accounting data by month for comparsion of operations. All of our membership data is entered, 1,000+. We are entering 2005's giving & other revenue as I speak. (We have not entered very much of 2005's expenses. (We have been runing our former system parallel, Quickbooks Pro & Membership+).

We don't have a zip drive, but can burn CD's.
What is the procedure to send tech support our data?
  • 1 Shall we FTP them to you?
2 Are they too large to e-mail?
3 Which files should we send?
4 What is the probable turn around time?
5 Can we contine to enter data while you work on my files?

Please reply soon!!!

Tom

Here are some steps.
  • -make a backup
-download and install the latest Maintenance Release
-call support, depending on how many messages you see in the Chart of Accounts this can be worked through over the phone, if you have the patience to listen and the time to take, it should be less than 20 minutes.
