Contributions posting to wrong fund

Post by breimer@netwave.ca »

I have set up a SPECIAL PROJECTS fund with what I believe to be the correct accounts (basically a pass through account). When I enter the contributions they get posted to the General fund. How can I correct this?

Thanks in advance for your assistance..........bill

Is there a special Fund Accounting account or fund setup for these Special Projects ? This is what the Contributions Fund for the special projects should be pointing to.

Yes there is. I originally set it up by copying the GENERAL FUND accounts. I think I may have deleted one too many accounts (because I don't need them all). Is there a specific account value that I should make sure is there?

Is this a true pass-thru contribution. That is, will these contributions be going to someone or some organization outside of the church ??

If so you really didn't need to create a new Fund Accounting fund. I would grab the Powerchurch v10 manual and look at page 194, or press the F1 key in Powerchurch v9 or 10, click on the Index button and type in pass-thru. Select the topic that appears, and it will show you how to track such pass-thru contributions.

This is what we are doing, but with a variety of pass thru accounts. How does a contribution designated for this account, and then get posted into the pass thru account? On the contribution one can only designate a fund, not an account within that fund.

Thanks again

Contribution Funds and Fund Accounting are two separate and distinct animals.

Do not confuse the two, as they are not interchangeable.

A Contribution Fund is a fund setup for Contributions entry, the only link to Funds Accounting is through the link created to Funds Accounting when setting up the Contribution Fund using the Maintain List of Contribution Funds.

This is noted on page 144 of the Powerchurch V10 manual. On the maintenance dialog screen, you can enter two Funds Accounting accounts to show where the contributions credted to this Contribution Fund will post to. You can use the lookup tool (magnifying glass) to lookup what accounts in Fund Accounting to use. This is a one-way connection, nothing comes from Funds Accounting to Contributions.

Again, you can search using the Powerchurch F1 help key for this information.
