Recently there has been interest from our members to pay their pledge by credit card or electronic transfers. How do these work with Power Church?

Version 10 added support for online contributions through a company called Paperless Payments. There is new a menu option at Contributions > Import Online Contributions.
The program connects directly to the Paperless Payments servers to download the list of new contributions that have come in since last time you checked.

As mentioned, there is a way to use online payments (Paperless Payments) with Powerchurch, however with online payments from a bank it is usually a manual operation.
In some cases, you'll get a check from their bank, so that is usually entered by whoever does the normal contribution entries. In other cases, where their bank is also the church's bank, you may get a list of persons and amounts already deposited to your account, and you'd have to enter this infor without posting it to Funds Accounting. Usually this is done by a Contributions Secretary or Treasurer, that is, someone who normally does the posting from Contributions to Funds Accounting.
Then there is the use of PayPal, which would follow the route of manual list entry, but would also involve the problem of PayPal fees; and I don't want to go there
