Is there a way to make a note on a contribution? When a memorial gift is given, it goes to a restricted mission account. Is there a way to put who this memorial was given for? I would prefer this be on the contributor report and on the restricted account. Currently, I use Excel and I am able to put Memorial for Joe Smith on both the designated account and on the individual contributor report.

The only current way to do this is create a separate account for each such memorial, both in Contributions and in Funds Accounting. This is very unwieldy and wasteful in the number of accounts that any given church may have.mksgrl1500 wrote:Is there a way to make a note on a contribution? Unless the memorial is over a certain amount, I'd say $10K, its not worth doing this way.
What I've seen done is a letter is sent to the person doing the donation, acknowledging the contribution and who the donation was in memory of. The money is then deposited via a Funds Accounting transaction, rather than entering it through Contributions.
