Report on Non-Pledging Units

Post by Margaret »

My church's financial secretary records contributions and provides monthly reports. The reports provide contributions for pledging units for the general fund and for the building fund. I need a report showing contributions made by visitors and/or people who do NOT pledge. Does this report exist? If yes, what is it called?

Thanks for any help.

There is the Pledged/Unpledged Totals report that can show you how much was given in Pledged and UnPledged dollars per fund.

Then you can use the the Selected Contributors report to filter out the members of the church and their family group members and get a total of those visitors who gave. You can then subtract the total from this report, and get the amount given by visitors.

You might want to also look at the condensed statements for office. It will print a total of pledged vs unpledged giving.

Thanks. Maybe I wasn't clear enough. PowerChurch has a report that shows us the name of each pledging contributor, the pledged amount and amount donated for each month. I can easily get a summary "total" of the non-pledged/visitor contributions from my Quickbooks system reports. (We do NOT use PowerChurch for our accounting.) What we need is to see a report on non-pledging people who contribute each month. We want to see the name of the contributor and the amount contributed each month. So far, we can't find this type of report. Any help will be appreciated.

Its too bad that you feel you have to use Quickbooks for the accounting, as Powerchurch was designed for church accounting from the ground up.

Anyway ... there isn't a standard report that can give you this information. That may be a good item for the wish list !!

I have set up envelope numbers as 4-digit numbers (even though the actual numbers don't exceed 2 digits; this is a SMALL church) so that I can group them as Pledging Contributors (actual envelope number preceded by 10; giving, for example, env. no. 1023) or Non-pledging Contributors (actual env. no. preceded by 20; giving, for example, env. no. 2024). People who prefer not to use physical envelopes are still assigned a number in either the 1000-1999 range (for Pledgers) or the 2000-2999 range (for Non-pledgers). With this kind of arrangement, the Posted Contributions report will list the posted contributions for the defined month, the defined range of envelope numbers (making it possible to isolate only the non-pledgers), and the defined range of funds (if that is also of interest). The results are listed by envelope number (arranged either by env. no. or alphabetical by last name) and include the contributor's name in the last column of the report. Depending on the number of contributors in your church, this may or may not be a workable solution for you.

Thanks. That's a method that I think we can use.

BTW, Margaret, I agree with Neil when he said:

As someone who came to PowerChurch 2+ years ago with ZERO bookkeeping experience, let alone training (and don't even mention accounting!), and studied the forums for several months before diving in, I can say I think the whole PowerChurch package is wonderful and especially the accounting modules. Maybe your church will let you migrate over in the not too distant future....
