Monthly Contribution Report

How do I do a report that will show the monthly giving of each donor without having it broken down by fund? If Mr. Smith gives $100 to three different funds, you have to go to each fund to see what he gave. I just want to know monthly totals by donor, not by fund. If I try to run it as a custom report it just makes a long list rather than divide it up by month across the top.

I think the Monthly Contributions Totals report (Details by Envelope) does this.
