Weird Fund Reporting

Post by RiverOfGrass »

When I ran Contribution Statements last quarter, I noticed that with a handful of statements were showing strange amounts in the Pledge Summary portion.
For example:
Mr & Mrs. Smith have pledged $4,000 for the fiscal year but have not made any contributions to the pledge. Yet, their Pledge Summary looks like this:
Fund: Annual Giving 2011/2012 Pledge $4,000 Actual $8,250 Difference $4,250
The problem is that they have not made any pledge contributions. When I track down the mystery "actual" number, it's CORRECTLY connected to a pledge contribution made in 2009 and it also shows the Pledge amount for 2008/2009 as correctly satisfied. No payments appear on the statement as applied to Annual Giving 2011/2012.
So, why is this happening? I can't find any connection to the 2008/2009 pledge fund to this fiscal year's pledge fund.

Also, this is an example of what's happening. A similar problem has been happening with other contributors for other Fiscal years (but not necessarily the 2008/2009 Pledge year). I haven't been able to find any real consistencies in the error nor can I find any connections between the 2011/2012 Pledge year to any other Pledge year.
If it's worth mentioning, I've never had this problem before and it didn't happen when I ran the quarter before last's statements.

Please help! Thank you!!

Before anything else, run a Reindex of the database to make sure that all the indexes are correct.

Then, make sure that the dates in the report options are for 1/1/2011 thru 12/31/2011 (or whatever your pledge period is).

Let us know what happens.

Tech Support also had me do this and it didn't change anything. Apparently, when 2011/2012 pledges were loaded, they were not all loaded under "Add New Pledge"; instead, some current year pledges were loaded almost as an addition to other years. Weird...but I wasn't the one who loaded pledge this year so anything can happen.

Thanks for replying!

That would have been the second suggestion if the first didn't work. Check to make sure all the pledges were setup properly.

This can actually happen when a pledge for a previous year that has contributions applied to it is changed to the current year instead of adding a new pledge for the current year. The contributions for the old dates will then be applied toward the new pledge.

In version 11, it puts up a warning that are contributions already applied to the pledge.
